Sungtae Shin received the B.S. and M.S. degrees supervised by Prof. Shin in Mechanical Engineering from Sejong University, Seoul, Korea, in 2004 and in 2006, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree supervised by Prof. Langari & Prof. Tafreshi in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station in 2016.

From 2012 to 2013, he was a Graduate Research Assistant at Texas A&M University at Qatar, Doha, Qatar. From 2014 to 2016, he was a Graduate Research Assistant at Texas A&M University, College Station. Since 2017, he has been a Postdoctoral Associate at University of Maryland with Prof. Hahn.

Human Computer Interaction (Gesture Recognition, Temporal Pattern (or Sequence) Recognition), System Identification (Regression, Forecast, Fault Diagnostics), Bio-signal Processing (Blood Pressure, EMG, EEG), Machine Learning, and Robotics
